When will I get my set?
Our goal is to deliver the first production batch Adventure sets in early November 2019 and we’re doing everything we can to meet that deadline. Unlike many crowdfunding projects, we have already invested in production tooling so the timeline to delivery is drastically shortened and many of the unknowns are already behind us. It’s worth noting here that the sooner you order your set, the sooner it will be shipped to you. Orders will be fulfilled first come, first served.

What kind of steel is used for the blades?
The Chef’s knife and Fillet knife is crafted from 1.4116 German steel. The Camp Utensil and Peeler & Parer is made from 3Cr13MoV stainless steel. The Chef’s knife and the Fillet knife both are sharpened to a 15° angle.

Does the blade lock in place?
The Chef, Fillet and Peeler blades have a Liner Lock mechanism to ensure that the blade stays fixed in place while in use.

How do you engage/disengage the locking mechanism?
To release the Liner-Lock mechanism, use your thumb to gently push aside the liner located inside the handle slot, to allow the blade to fold. The blade will fold easily when disengaged, FOR SAFETY, DO NOT FORCE THE BLADE.

The products are designed in Ojai, CA and manufactured in China. The knives are produced by one of the leading folding knife manufacturers in the region.

Do I need to pay any special attention to the hinge on my knives to keep it in good condition?
The pivot screw on our folding knives should be kept free from built up dirt and debris. Occasionally add a few drops of mineral oil to the pivot area as needed to ensure smooth operation.

What is the best way to sharpen the blades?
The best way to sharpen the blades is to use a fine grit honing steel to align the edge. If the edge needs extra maintenance and needs to be sharpened, we recommend our 400/1000 water stone. You may get the knives professionally sharpened as well.

How do I clean my knives? Are the knives and tools dishwasher safe? Will an abrasive sponge scratch the blade or wood?
We recommend cleaning the knives and tools by hand using soap and water. Wipe each blade or tool head to remove any visible moisture. Don’t put them in the dishwasher.

Are these knives waterproof/will they rust?
The blade steel in our Chef’s and Fillet knives was chosen for its cutting performance over stain resistance. It is the same German steel used in our premium kitchen cutlery. Like all quality blades these should be stored clean and dry to avoid corrosion.

Can I refinish the Carbonized Maple handles if they get faded?
Carbonized Maple is a baked wood and is not stained. Baked wood is less porous and has a consistent color throughout. You may refinish the surface by sanding or buffing however the color will remain consistent throughout the entire piece because how the wood is manufactured.

What is the cutting board manufactured from?
We made the cutting board from TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) so that it will not shrink or swell from water or heat. TPE is free of Bisphenol-A (BPA), PVC, Lead, Phthalates, Dioxins, and other notorious offenders. One of the benefits of this material is that it won’t harbor bacteria if cleaned properly.

If I am outside the USA, what about any addition duties, etc?
The shipping option for international orders is FedEx International Economy. Our flat rate freight fee is only associated with the actual transit of the product(s). You (the backer) would be responsible for any applicable duty, fees, charges, etc. that your specific country may require for inbound goods.

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
